After back-to-back Region 6 titles in 2018 and 2019, the Olympus football team finished as runners-up for the second straight season.

The Titans went 4-2 in Region 6, one game behind Brighton, just as they did last year.

Overall, Olympus went 6-4 during the regular season. Olympus headed into the Class 5A state tournament as the No. 14 seed where it hosted 19th-seeded Payson on Oct. 22. The Titans won that first round matchup 49-21, then lost in the second round to Stansbury 26-20.

Olympus entered the tournament on a strong note, having won two straight games. To end the regular season, on Oct. 15, the Titans blitzed rival Skyline 27-7. Olympus did most of its damage in the first quarter when it reeled off 21 points and shut out the Eagles. Quarterback Seth Roberts tossed three touchdowns in a six-minute span in the quarter. The first went to Samuel Bodily from 36 yards out. Anthony Olsen and Charlie Sherwood caught the next two, both 24-yarders.

Olympus coasted the rest of the way, scoring on a 1-yard run from Roberts in the second quarter. Skyline got on the board with just over two minutes left in the game.

The week before, the Titans edged Highland 10-7, again playing tough defense. The Rams were up 7-3 after three quarters, with Olympus only managing a 37-yard field goal from Max Foulger to end the first half. But in the fourth quarter, Josh Peterson had a 2-yard touchdown run with 9:35 to play in what amounted to the winning score.

That two-game winning streak broke a three-game skid from Sept. 17 to Oct. 1. Olympus also won region games over Murray, 45-28 on Sept. 3, and over Brighton, 35-28 on Sept. 10.

The Titans have spread the ball around well this season, as 19 players had at least one carry, and 15 players caught at least one pass. Roberts had 1,140 yards passing and 10 touchdowns during the regular season. Sam Seagle was the leading rusher with 649 yards and three touchdowns on 119 carries. Roberts and Ryan Reynard had four rushing touchdowns apiece to pace the team. Olsen’s 24 catches for 393 yards and three touchdowns through the air were each best on the team.

Defensively, Olympus allowed 23.1 points per game. Isaac Wirthlin tallied 51 tackles, tops on the squad. Olsen, Joseph Johnson and Lucas D’Ambrosio each had a pair of sacks. James Smith, Nash Taylor and Sam Green led the way with three interceptions apiece.

Last season, Olympus had the No. 8 seed at state but fell in the second round at home to Timpview. Olympus fell in the quarterfinals to Orem in 2019. The Titans reached the semifinals in 2018 before losing to eventual champion Corner Canyon.
